On our bikes

At Land Studio we offer our team a Cycle-to-Work scheme. We’re delighted that two of our assistant landscape architects, Sian Rossiter and Hamzah Akhoon, now regularly cycle into work, as well as founder Simon Richards.

Sian said: “I love my bike, not only because it’s an environmentally friendly way to get to work but because it keeps me fit and healthy. The scheme is great as it has allowed me to buy a high-quality bike.”

Hamzah said: “I’m using the scheme to upgrade to a lighter bike with more gears. I cycle to work every single day and in most weather conditions, clocking up about 25 miles a week.”

Simon, a mountain biker and road cyclist, who once cycled the epic 735km Raid Pyrénéen route across the Pyrenees from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea in 100 hours, said: “I love cycling because you see life at a different pace on a bike and really appreciate your surroundings. As well as being a great way of getting exercise, it boosts your endorphins and is good for the environment.

“If I leave the car at home and cycle once a week, that’s a 20% reduction in my carbon emissions.”
