Our work encourages natural play and learning

We are working with another Star Academies school to help them to transform their outdoor space into new natural play and learning areas for their children.

Pupils at Thornbury Primary Leadership Academy in Bradford will soon have a new space with landscaping serving many different purposes.

Our team has lovingly designed natural play areas with seating around trees and earth mounding, sensory elements and a trim trail. There are enclosed quiet spaces with areas to read and a covered outdoor classroom. And we have designed active and colourful spaces with the minimum amount of obstacles and lots of surface art.

We have suggested soft pour surfacing sweeping through the main active spaces, have incorporated the school’s existing birch trees into our design to form outdoor class areas, and recommended cladding the existing perimeter fence in timber to give a more natural feel.
