Our heritage and visitor destination work

One of our specialisms is working in sensitive and historic landscapes to ensure that our work is carefully integrated.

We always consider the layers of history on a site and the importance of its surroundings.

Over the years, we have worked with the National Trust on historic landscapes including Aira Force, Lyme Park and Dunham Massey as well as a number of private estates.

We are currently working with Forestry England on a brand-new visitor welcome centre at Delamere Forest in Cheshire, the county’s largest area of woodland and a popular destination which gets over 750,000 visitors a year.

Working alongside Willmott Dixon and Chester Design Group, we were invited by Forestry England to design the landscape around the new access road, the new timber-framed visitor welcome centre and the car park.

From the new building, visitors will be able to see the new terrace, the connecting orchard and across to Old Pale Hill.
