Opening of new natural burial ground

This month sees the opening of the Monument Meadow Natural Burial Ground in Farndon, Cheshire.

We were delighted to work on the design of the project with the Barnston Estate, one of Cheshire’s oldest family estates.

The five-acre natural burial ground has charming views across rolling countryside and the Clwydian Range and is a beautiful place to be laid to rest.

Instead of using gravestones, an abundance of local species of trees, bulbs and wildflowers – including field poppies, cornflowers, marigolds and chamomile, have been planted to create a living memorial landscape.

There’s also a purpose-built oak barn for conducting ceremonies and providing shelter. The framed views from its windows are particularly lovely.
