A celebration of trees

This week is National Tree Week, the UK’s largest annual tree celebration.

Running until December 4th, thousands of trees and hedgerows are being planted around the country to celebrate some of the most powerful tools we have in the fight against climate change.

The Tree Council has a tree planting guide which you can download via this link.

Rachael Fenton, Associate Landscape Architect, who recently planted a Victoria Plum tree in her garden, said: “At Land Studio, we always look to increase the specification and diversification of native trees and new hedgerows in our planting designs.

“Outside of work, I’m drawing up plans for my own garden as part of a house renovation project. At the moment, it’s a bit of a blank canvas but it was great to plant our first fruit tree.”

Lisa Sawyer said: “I love planting trees and it’s always something lovely to do with my daughter. We’ve planted a few together this year.”

Until March 2023, the Woodland Trust in Wales, in conjunction with the Welsh Government, is offering trees to households in Wales, free of charge. The trees will help to tackle the effects of climate change and will also contribute to the National Forest for Wales. For more information visit.
